My son Steve and I travelled back 278 years and visited Shoreditch in the East End of London in August to see where our ancestors had lived. In New Inn Street, my 6xGreat Grandfather, David Wait (1738-1793), worked as a carpenter. The experience of standing where your ancestors had lived and worked was unforgettable. I recommend it!! We even supped ale in The Old Blue Last, his local pub. The beautiful St Leonard's Church, where generations of our ancestors were baptised, married and buried, was unfortunately closed but still breathtaking to see.
