This was my family Christmas nearly sixty years ago. These are colourised photographs of my Nan’s house in London when nearly all my mum’s side of the family got together. In the first picture I am at the back in my dad’s arms holding a toy, my brother David is being held by my mum.
Above us is a cuckoo clock which absolutely fascinated me. I often called my nan (bottom right wearing glasses) ‘Nanny Cuckoo.’ She was truly a remarkable woman. How she managed to feed us all I will never know!
In the second photograph I am wearing a toy gun holster and looking half asleep. I think the journey from Kent in my Uncle John’s car (I can remember the smell of those leather seats) and all the excitement had worn me out.
Quite a crowd. Bet everyone had a good time.
